I’ve said it before, but Scarlett has a beautiful style in how she sings around the bare bones of a song; her voice sewing the threads together in an almost a capella style. “Imprisoned” accentuates this, with the video using some beautiful imagery to enhance. The red dress juxtaposed over the pure white snow; seemingly alluding to blood on skin. Powerful stuff.
Imprisoned is taken from Scarlett Taylor’s second studio album, “Churches“, which actually uses a remix version featuring Zay from “The Truants”. This video uses the original song which was a surprise when I first watched it. I love the album version, but by removing the featured artist the song seems to take on a fresh pulse. Not better; not worse, simply different.
